Dot NAME Domain Names

Started in 2001, the Dot NAME generic domain extension is the single TLD supposed to be for personal websites only. These domains can include personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other titles people are popular by. Initially, just third-level registrations were permitted, so if you wanted to buy john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already taken 3rd-level domain names remained functional.

You will have the opportunity to change the WHOIS information, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already registered domain to our firm if you take its EPP transfer authorization code from the current domain registrar and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. There are no particular regulations on who can book a dot NAME domain, but in order to keep the concept behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry may verify who the owner is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain, the registration can be challenged.
